come inside

As you enter the Shoehorn Bar and Lounge a cosy, open fire and oak beams welcome you to stay awhile. Here you can admire The Plough Inn’s unique collection of brass shoehorns. There are a variety of different Menus that you can choose from. Accompany your meal with a glass of hand-pulled Yorkshire Ale, a glass of our fine wine or simply enjoy a cup of delicious coffee – just relax and enjoy yourself.

From the Shoehorn Bar Lounge you enter the Harlequin’s Conservatory Restaurant, with a delightful collection of ornamental and musical clowns to amuse you. It has fine views of the hills, limestone scars and stone walls for which the Yorkshire Dales are well known. On a clear day Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough of the Three Peaks can be seen from your table. The original farm Well (over 30ft deep) is featured in the restaurant. This special place has superb ambience for a romantic candlelit dinner for two or a relaxing meal with friends and relations.

Step back in time into the sunny Oak Panelled Dining Room with the original leaded-light windows. The history of the Inn is depicted on the panelled walls in an array of photographs and memorabilia.

More historical stories and pictures can be found in the Pickles Bar named after a former landlord. This is where you can meet our ‘locals’ – all of them characters with many stories to share, You can chat to local farmers such as Adrian Proctor who produces the organic lamb that regularly features on our restaurant menu and John Taylor who supplies the free-range eggs that are served at breakfast time. You can play a game of darts, and if you feel really confident you can challenge members of our darts team to a friendly match. You can also test your skill at shove ha’penny, table skittles and dominoes.

The Settle Down room is ideal for families as we provide boxes of games to keep the little ones occupied while everyone enjoys their meals.
